As spring approaches, Salt Lake County Animal Services in Utah gears up to host a virtual 'Kitten Shower' in anticipation of the upcoming 2024 kitten season. Kitten Shower: A Virtual Preparation

The 'Kitten Shower,' scheduled to run from March 4 to March 9, is a unique initiative that allows the community to contribute towards the welfare of the kittens. The organization has created a registry that includes crucial items such as beds, bottles, formula, food, and litter boxes. Each day of the event will highlight a specific item from the wish list, encouraging the public to donate and participate actively in this cause.

The Need for Consistency

While the shelter appreciates all donations, it emphasizes the need for specific brands of products. This approach, they believe, will maintain consistency in care, ensuring that all kittens receive the same quality of nourishment and comfort. The shelter, therefore, urges donors to adhere to the brands listed on the registry.

Foster Training: Equipping Caretakers

Recognizing the significance of fostering in the lives of these kittens, Salt Lake County Animal Services will also conduct online kitten foster training on March 23. The training aims to educate potential foster parents about essential aspects of kitten care, such as bottle feeding, illness awareness, and understanding fostering responsibilities. This initiative seeks to provide a nurturing environment for the kittens and to ensure that they receive the care they need during the critical first weeks of their lives.

In 2023, the organization successfully placed 700 kittens in foster homes and expects the need to be even greater this year. As such, they are reaching out to the community, inviting interested individuals to make donations at the Salt Lake City shelter and consider becoming foster parents. All the relevant information can be found on the Salt Lake County Animal Services website.
