Trading the Bar for a Caravan

Prior to embarking on this adventurous lifestyle, the Battles owned a bar. Their decision to alter their way of life came after their children moved out and they sold their business. The couple acquired a vintage Airstream Argosy and undertook its renovation. Chad took charge of the restoration process, while Cate was responsible for the decor, drawing inspiration from Woody Guthrie's song, 'This Land is Your Land'.

The couple's nomadic life with their pet goat is not without challenges. One of the primary issues they face is finding places that accommodate pets. However, they have relished the experience of traversing diverse landscapes, from vast deserts to lush forests. Frankie, the pygmy Nigerian dwarf goat, has developed a particular fondness for the Oregon coast, drawn to the rocks that she can leap over and slot canyons.

Emphasizing Environmental Responsibility

The Battles are committed to environmental stewardship and respect for animal restrictions. They thoroughly research and obtain special permissions when necessary. Their purpose is not merely to travel and explore with Frankie but to do so responsibly, adhering to regulations that protect wildlife and ensuring they leave no trace on the landscapes they visit.
