Yanmar's Expansion into Torbali, Turkey


Japanese engine manufacturer Yanmar has chosen Torbali, a district in the Aegean region of Turkey, for its new investment. The company plans to assemble 35 tractors a day in a 25,000 square meter area. These tractors will primarily cater to markets in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

Yanmar Turkey: A Major Export Company in the Region

According to the President of the Torbali Chamber of Commerce (TTO), Yanmar Turkey is set to become a significant export company in the region, with its daily production capacity of 35 tractors. The region is already home to 1120 production facilities, 67 of which are foreign-capital. Torbali boasts a logistics network with over 100 countries and an export value of 1 billion 341 million dollars. The infrastructure of the region offers significant advantages for international businesses, with highways and a railway line passing through the city, and its proximity to Adnan Menderes Airport and Alsancak Port.

Yanmar's Employment and Expansion Plans

Factory Director Gokcen Tarkan Aydogan expressed satisfaction with the new investment and the visit of the Torbali Chamber of Commerce President Abdulvahap Olgun and his team. Aydogan stated the factory has started operations with 76 staff members and plans to increase this number to 125 soon. The company aims to make Turkey a hub for production, logistics, and engineering as part of the Yanmar Turkey family. They invited the people of Torbali to the opening of their second production facility in Turkey, scheduled for September 27th.


Yanmar's History and Successes in Turkey

Yanmar has been active in Turkey since 2016 when it established a representative office for marketing activities and market surveys. The company established a local subsidiary in 2017 to further develop business in Turkey and surrounding regions. The company has grown rapidly in Turkey and has seen many successes since its establishment. It has now increased its investment in Turkey with the addition of a tractor factory. Yanmar has also completed the acquisition of Solis Traktör Sanayi A.Ş, located in Izmir Menderes, from its partner in Turkey, International Tractor Limited (ITL).

Yanmar's Future Plans and Contributions to the Turkish Economy

With this acquisition, Yanmar further strengthens its position in Turkey and is expected to contribute significantly to the Turkish economy and employment through its investments, which are expected to continue to grow in the coming years. The company plans to continue producing Solis-branded tractors while also producing Yanmar-branded tractors at the factory.
