Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO) has publicly apologized for a significant power outage that affected nearly 155,000 households in Ulsan, a crucial industrial city in southeast South Korea. The incident happened on December 6, 2023, when a malfunctioning substation triggered a blackout in a southern residential area of Ulsan, approximately 300 kilometers from Seoul.

The blackout, which lasted for about two hours, left residents and businesses in a temporary state of disarray. KEPCO expressed deep regret for the disruption caused, acknowledging the inconvenience it imposed on the people of Ulsan. The electricity outage drew the attention of emergency services, with firefighters promptly arriving at the implicated substation.
