The International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS) has declared Friday, December 8, 2023, as a day of global action in support of Gaza and the protection of the Al Aqsa Mosque from Israeli occupation. This call to action is not limited to Muslim nations but extends to the entire global community.
Call for Global Solidarity
The IUMS is urging Muslims worldwide to participate in peaceful demonstrations and sit-ins as a show of solidarity with the resilient people of Gaza. These actions are intended to exert pressure on governments to confront the occupation and uphold human rights in line with moral principles.
Support from the European Union
In alignment with this call to action, the IUMS has cited a recent stance by the European Union (EU). The EU called for all facets of society to band together against the injustices and genocide inflicted upon innocent lives by the Israeli occupation in Palestine. The EU also expressed its condemnation of the planned protest by the Zionist organization in Jerusalem. This protest aims to demand full control over the Al Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem, and the removal of the Islamic Waqf Department, the entity responsible for the mosque.
The actions of the Zionist organization and its supporters pose a grave threat to the Islamic holy site and the rights of the Palestinian people. The Gaza Health Ministry reports that, since October 7, 2023, over 16,000 Palestinians have fallen victim to Israeli attacks. Moreover, Israeli forces have cut off basic supplies such as water, electricity, medicine, and fuel.
