The National Institute of Technology, Rourkela (NITR), one of India's premier engineering institutions, has recently witnessed the inauguration of six development projects worth Rs 200 crore. The person at the helm of this significant infrastructure enhancement - Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Expanding Infrastructure for NITR

The projects launched entail the construction of a sewage treatment plant, a faculty residential complex, three 500-seater hostels for female students, and a 1,000-seater hostel for male students. The land allocated for these ambitious projects spans an impressive 15 acres. This expansive development caters to the growing needs of the institution's student population, aligning with NITR's commitment to fostering a conducive learning and research environment.

Notably, one of the girls' hostels received financial backing from Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), which contributed Rs 42.69 crore. This collaboration between industry and academia underscores the collective effort towards advancing educational infrastructure in India.

Another significant development is the inauguration of a new Kendriya Vidyalaya within the NITR campus.
