Revving Up the Past: Kamm 912c Restomod Like No Other Porsche

A New Vision for the Classic Porsche 912
The classic Porsche 912, a vintage car from the mid-1960s, is being reimagined by Hungarian car enthusiast, Miklos Kazmer Kamm. The 912 was a more affordable version of the iconic Porsche 911 produced between 1965 and 1969. It featured a 1.6 litre flat four engine borrowed from the preceding Porsche 356. Kamm’s novel conception, dubbed the 912c, infuses this old-world charm with modern enhancements, creating a unique automobile that is both visually striking and thrilling to drive.
Lightweight and Power-Packed: The 912c Restomod
Kamm’s 912c restomod replaces most of the steel body parts with carbon fibre, substantially reducing the car’s weight. The engine, upgraded by Swiss firm JPS Aircooled, is now a 2.0 litre powerhouse producing 187bhp, a significant jump from the original 89bhp. Other improvements include a new suspension system, AP Racing disc brakes, a limited slip differential, and a hydraulic handbrake. Adding to the car’s allure are Kamm’s custom split rim wheels shod in semi-slick Yokohama tyres.
A Personalised Interior Experience
The enhancements to the 912c are not merely mechanical. The car’s interior can be customised to the buyer’s preference. Options range from leather bucket seats and racing harnesses to more comfortable chairs and regular seat belts. Modern conveniences like air conditioning and USB charging ports have also been thoughtfully included.
Agile Handling and Versatile Performance
With a light weight of just 750kg, the 912c is known for its agile handling. A switch labelled “Drive Me Crazy” is conveniently located behind the steering wheel, allowing drivers to open up the exhaust valves for a more engaging and immersive driving experience. Despite these modern enhancements, Kamm’s restomod is committed to preserving the charm and feel of the classic 912. This means the car is versatile enough for a relaxing Sunday morning drive or a few exhilarating hot laps on the track, catering to the needs of different drivers.
A Unique Blend of Old and New
In essence, the 912c restomod by Miklos Kazmer Kamm is a unique reinterpretation of the classic Porsche 912. It blends the allure of a 1960s car with the performance and conveniences of modern technology, delivering a thrilling and versatile driving experience. This masterful blend of old and new is a testament to Kamm’s vision, engineering prowess, and respect for the classic Porsche 912. Through this restomod, the charm and vintage appeal of the 912 are not lost but rather enhanced, offering car enthusiasts a truly unique driving experience.
