Female Professionals Less Likely to Negotiate Salaries, Says Robert Half Study

A recent study conducted by human resources consulting firm, Robert Half, has shed light on the prevalent wage gap issue in Canada. The study surveyed over 1,500 professionals from various fields and discovered significant disparities in salary negotiation patterns between men and women.


According to the study, 56% of women plan to ask for a raise by the end of 2023, compared to 64% of men. Furthermore, 35% of women have never negotiated their salaries, compared to 28% of men. It was also revealed that 80% of women are concerned about inflation outpacing their salary growth this year, compared to 74% of men.

These findings support the longstanding notion of a gender pay gap, with women being paid approximately 20% less than men, a statistic echoed by the United Nations. The survey aims to highlight and address the ongoing disparities in the professional world.
