Google has officially announced the biggest transformation to its Search platform in more than 25 years during the company’s annual I/O 2026 conference. The tech giant introduced a new “AI Mode” powered by its Gemini AI system, allowing users to interact with Search conversationally instead of relying on traditional keyword-based results.

The new system can summarize information, answer complex questions, and even perform tasks on behalf of users. Google also introduced “Gemini Spark,” an AI assistant integrated across Gmail, Docs, Maps, and third-party apps. The company says the goal is to create a more personalized and proactive internet experience.

Industry analysts believe this update could completely reshape SEO, digital marketing, and online publishing. Websites that rely heavily on organic Google traffic may face major changes as AI-generated answers become more prominent than classic search links.
