A Collective Pursuit of AI Progress

The Sense Collective seeks to address shared obstacles faced by corporate legal teams by tapping into the game-changing potential of GenAI and large language models (LLMs). As enthusiasm for GenAI swells, the community aims to channel this momentum into practical applications within corporate legal work. Fostering a cooperative environment, the collective encourages the exchange of insights and the development of shared frameworks for implementation.

With an intentional cap on membership, the Sense Collective aims to cultivate active engagement and peer collaboration. The first cohort is slated to embark on this groundbreaking journey in March. The community's workstreams will encompass member services, prototype development, and knowledge sharing to expedite progress and implement GenAI solutions.

From Isolated Efforts to Collaborative Innovation

Mike Haven of Intel underscored the advantages of collaboration over isolated efforts, while Ed Sohn of Factor emphasized the program's commitment to actionable innovation over mere discussion. With over a decade of experience, Factor is uniquely positioned to bridge the gap between Traditional Law, New Law, and in-house legal teams, delivering complex legal work at scale while balancing legal risks with commercial opportunities.

The Sense Collective represents more than just a step forward for the legal sector. It embodies the spirit of 'applied innovation-as-a-service,' shifting the focus from abstract discussion to tangible action. By addressing real-world adoption challenges such as strategic planning, use case development, and reliable intelligence about the state of the art, the collective aims to move the needle on GenAI adoption in the corporate legal realm.

The timing of this initiative could not be more apt. According to a recent LexisNexis survey of 1,200 legal professionals, more than a quarter are already utilizing generative AI tools, with 26% of AI users, a figure that has more than doubled since last summer. The survey reveals that nearly two-thirds of law firms have altered their day-to-day operations as a result of generative AI, including the launch of AI-powered products, AI-related training, hiring AI experts, and developing policies for future use.
