A Global Gathering of Computer Science Experts

The International Scientific Convention UCIENCIA 2023 has announced its 5th edition, creating a global platform for academic and professional experts in the realm of computing. The event, recognized as one of the most significant biannual gatherings in technology and innovation in Cuba, is scheduled to take place at the Meliá Internacional Varadero Hotel from September 27 to 29.

UCIENCIA 2023 is expected to feature a series of conferences, workshops, panels, and presentations of cutting-edge research in various areas of computer science. The convention primarily aims to foster knowledge exchange, promote collaboration among professionals, academics, and the business sector, and explore the latest trends and advancements in the field. Furthermore, it provides a platform for scientific debate focused on training, research, development, and innovation.

International Participation and Selection Process

From the 466 scientific contributions received, 292 were chosen following a rigorous arbitration process. The event will witness participation from 26 countries, with significant representation from Germany, Peru, China, Russia, Colombia, Spain, Mexico, and Cuba.

Exploring Trending Topics in Computing

The event serves as a knowledge-sharing platform on trending subjects in computing, such as artificial intelligence, pattern recognition, cybersecurity, computational mathematics, and bioinformatics. Additionally, the convention emphasizes the digital transformation of Cuban society and the internationalization of university processes, the management of scientific and technological parks, and the training of computer science engineers.

This edition of the convention includes a congress, four symposiums, and 14 workshops that align with the University’s scientific lines. Participants will have the opportunity to update their knowledge and explore new areas of research and development.

Highlighting Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity

The 8th International Congress on Artificial Intelligence and Pattern Recognition (IWAIPR 2023) is a key event at UCIENCIA 2023. Participants from around the globe will promote and disseminate ongoing research on mathematical methods and computational techniques, particularly in bioinformatics, cognitive and humanoid vision, computer vision, image analysis, and intelligent data analysis.

Meanwhile, cybersecurity emerges as another topic of significant interest, considering the growing importance of safeguarding information and systems in an increasingly connected world. Experts will share experiences and strategies in protection, training, and emerging trends in this critical area.

New Workshops and Central Debates

Five new workshops will address topics such as the internationalization of higher education, training via virtual teaching and learning technologies, the impact of higher education on sustainable development goals, and human-computer interface technologies. The convention will also feature 35 keynote lectures.

The digital transformation of Cuban society is set to be the central debate, focusing on a technological approach and measuring its impact. The convention encourages high-quality scientific contributions for publication in internationally visible refereed journals.

Opportunities for Young Researchers

UCIENCIA 2023 also provides a platform for young researchers and students to present their projects and papers in a professional academic environment. The best works presented in the thesis presentation will be awarded prizes, thereby promoting excellence and innovation in computing.
