Kohli broke the record for the most runs in a single edition of the Cricket World Cup, surpassing Tendulkar's total of 673 runs in the 2003 edition. He also registered the most fifty-plus scores in a single World Cup, another record previously held by Tendulkar. Over the year, Kohli has maintained an impressive average of 72.47 in 27 ODIs, scoring six centuries and eight fifties.

A Bright Future in Indian Cricket

Tendulkar believes that Kohli still has a significant amount to offer to Indian cricket, indicating that his journey is far from over. After his stellar performance in the World Cup, Kohli has decided to step away from white-ball cricket, indicating his absence from India's upcoming tour of South Africa for T20 Internationals and ODIs. Tendulkar expressed his happiness at Kohli breaking the record of most ODI centuries and looks forward to the continued journey of cricket, hunger, runs, and hundreds yet to come from Kohli.

Kohli was the quickest to complete 13000 runs in ODI cricket, achieving the feat in just 267 innings. He also stands at the fifth position in completing 13000 ODI runs, joining the legendary list of Tendulkar, Kumar Sangakkara, Ricky Ponting, and Sanath Jayasuriya. He also holds the record for the most centuries in the Asia Cup tournament and is set to become the only player to score the most centuries against one team if he scores another ton in the upcoming match against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2023.
