Rodrigo Caetano, currently tied to Atlético-MG until the end of 2026, has been identified as the primary target of Augusto Melo, the newly elected president of Corinthians, to take on the role of football executive starting from 2024. In an interview with Bica Galo channel, Caetano denied having had any contact with Melo and affirmed that he has not received any offers so far.

Caetano: Melo's Favorite

ESPN reports that Caetano is Melo's preferred choice, although there are other three undisclosed candidates also being considered for the position. Caetano's contract with Atlético-MG allows for an early termination in 2024 without any penalty.

Corinthians' Search for a Football Coordinator

Besides a football executive, Corinthians is also in the hunt for a football coordinator and has chosen former defender Chicão for the role. Despite Corinthians' interest, Atlético-MG's president, Sérgio Coelho, has assured that Caetano will remain in Belo Horizonte in 2024.

Caetano's Denial

Caetano has denied receiving any proposal from Corinthians or any other club, describing such rumors as pure speculation. He expressed his satisfaction with Atlético-MG, and his relationship with its managers, president, and owners. Caetano's contract with Atlético-MG extends to the end of 2026, with a clause allowing for a penalty-free termination starting from January next year.
