In a pivotal gathering, celebrated regional leaders congregated in N’Djamena, Chad, as the nation marked its 63rd Independence Day. A key presence was the Vice President of the Presidential Council, Musa Al-Koni, who, alongside other noteworthy officials, participated in the festivities and engaged in important discussions related to regional Seeking Stability.

Greeting the Leaders

Upon his arrival in N’Djamena, Al-Koni was warmly received by the Chadian Prime Minister-designate, Foreign Minister Mohamed Salih Nazif. Also present were the Charge d’affaires of the Libyan Embassy in Chad, the military attache, and members of the diplomatic corps. This presented a united front aligning the interests of several African nations. The highlighting reason behind Al-Koni’s visit was centered around strengthening diplomatic relations and advocating for regional stability.

The Stage is Set

The pivotal ceremony, held on Friday, saw a significant turnout with heads of African states, ministers, and army commanders marking their presence. President Mohamed Idriss Deby of Chad led the gathering with an insightful discourse on regional matters. The celebration of Chad’s independence served as a vital platform for inter-state discussions concerning bilateral relations and peace-keeping efforts.

Towards Stability: A Meet with President Deby

Upon arrival, Al-Koni held an important meeting with President Deby, who is concurrently leading the Community of Sahel-Saharan States (CEN-SAD). The discussion centred around the ongoing situation in Niger and Sudan, two nations closely tied with the interests of the region.

A Unified Stance

The meeting concluded with both leaders affirming their common stance as CEN-SAD member states towards the Seeking Stability of neighbouring countries. They expressed a joint concern over the restive situation in Niger, urging the nation to steer clear from potential armed conflict. The leaders emphasised that such a conflict could have far-reaching implications for the region’s Seeking Stability and security.
