President Tinubu Approves Blueprint for South East's Political Empowerment

In a strategic move aiming to strengthen the political foothold of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South East region of Nigeria, President Bola Tinubu has approved a blueprint for the region's political empowerment. The process is set to kick off in Anambra State, a decision announced by Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, National Chairman of the APC, during a meeting with party stakeholders.

The APC's vision for the South East is one of unity and increased presence in national politics. Ganduje stressed the necessity of a united front to fortify the region's role in the nation's political scene. He lauded Senator Ifeanyi Ubah's choice to join the APC, asserting that the party is primed to secure legislative victories in the region. The National Chairman also expressed the APC's readiness to win the upcoming gubernatorial and legislative elections in Anambra State.

Integration Through Political Empowerment

The meeting also saw Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State advocating for the South East's integration into national politics via the APC. He expressed a desire for the party to dominate the region's five states. Anambra State APC Chairman, Basil Ejidike, echoed this sentiment, proposing the appointment of Liaison Officers in states with non-APC governors. Such a move, he argued, would ensure equal distribution of federal aid and grants. He also sought assistance from the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs for party members, particularly during the festive season.

At the heart of these discussions is a blueprint approved by President Tinubu aimed at the 'political emancipation' of the South East Geopolitical zone, starting with Anambra State. This plan, according to Ganduje, offers a non-kinetic means of resolving security and other sociological challenges in the South East. It also focuses on improving infrastructure and achieving political inclusion in the region. This new peace initiative has received praise and support from prominent figures including the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu.
