Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) parliamentary party meeting, requested BJP Members of Parliament (MPs) to avoid addressing him with honorifics such as 'Modiji' or 'aadarniya' (respected) Modiji. He emphasized that such formalities might create a sense of distance between him and the citizens of India, and stressed his identity as an 'ordinary worker' of the party. Modi believes the people consider him a family member and encourages MPs to treat him as their equal without any added adjectives.
Modi Attributes Electoral Victories to Teamwork
Modi accredited the BJP's recent electoral victories in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh to the collective spirit and teamwork within the party. He highlighted the importance of the BJP's governance model in negating anti-incumbency, stating that the party is re-elected for a second term 57% of the time, compared to 20% for the Congress party and 49% for regional parties.
Call for Participation in Viksit Bharat Yatra
Modi also urged the MPs to participate in the upcoming Viksit Bharat Yatra, an initiative designed to spread awareness of government schemes and programs among the populace. He praised the indigenous Tejas fighter aircraft and the global recognition of the 'Make in India' initiative, which promotes domestic production and manufacturing.
BJP's Electoral Success
The BJP has seen considerable electoral success in recent state elections and has shown improved performance in Telangana and Mizoram, setting a favorable stage for the party ahead of the 2024 general elections. Amidst anticipation surrounding the selection of chief ministers in these states, PM Modi graciously shared the victory’s credit with his party colleagues. His words reflect a desire to remain connected with the people and underscore his belief that simplicity in address strengthens the bond between a leader and the citizens.
