Recognizing the Pillars of Progress

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih of the Maldives recently hosted a ceremony to honor the contributions of long-serving state officials towards the country’s development. He acknowledged 148 public servants with the National Award for Public Service, praising their dedication, hard work, and integrity as integral to the nation’s progress.

The ceremony took place at the Maldives Centre for Social Education (MCSE) and was attended by the First Lady Fazna Ahmed, Vice President Faisal Naseem, his spouse Aishath Shamsada, cabinet ministers, state dignitaries, and high-ranking officials.

Empowering the Nation’s Youth

President Solih stressed the importance of honoring the long-serving employees’ contributions to the State and the people. He applauded the pivotal role they have played in fostering national development and encouraged younger government employees to draw inspiration from their commitment.

Recognizing the efforts of young individuals in managing the country’s affairs and fulfilling significant obligations for its growth, the President urged them to remain dedicated and committed to their civic responsibilities. He presented service to the country as a source of personal achievement, joy, and fulfillment, and highlighted the importance of youth engagement in the nation’s progress.

The National Award for Public Service

Introduced by the administration in 2021, the National Award for Public Service aims to recognize the efforts of individuals who have made significant contributions to the nation. Since its introduction, 309 individuals have received the award. With the recent ceremony, another 148 were added to this list, bringing the total number of recipients to 457.

Inspiring Future Generations

President Solih’s address at the ceremony was not only a tribute to the long-serving officials but also a call to action for the younger generation. He emphasized the importance of dedication, integrity, and commitment to service, urging young government employees to find joy and fulfillment in their work and view their service as a personal achievement.

He urged all members of the government, particularly the nation’s youth, to remain committed to their civic responsibilities. By acknowledging the efforts of young individuals in managing the nation’s affairs and fulfilling significant obligations for its growth, the President set a precedent for future generations to follow.
