Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, in a recent interaction with party workers in Budhni, Sehore district, exuded confidence in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) securing its fifth consecutive term in the state following the Assembly elections held in November 2023. This assertion comes on the backdrop of the BJP's previous victories in the state elections in 2003, 2008, 2013, and 2020.
Impact of 'Ladli Behna Yojana'
Chouhan emphasized the significance of the 'Ladli Behna Yojana,' a welfare scheme for women providing financial assistance. The Chief Minister believes that the positive impact of this initiative and the support from 'ladli behnas' (beloved sisters) would contribute substantially to the BJP's triumph in the current Assembly elections.
Chouhan, who contested from the Budhni assembly seat, faced competition from noteworthy opponents. Among them were Congress candidate Vikram Mastal, recognized for his portrayal of Hanuman in a television series, and the Samajwadi Party's Mirchi Baba, a figure known for performing a ritual for a Congress candidate's victory in 2019.
The Vote Count
The result of the recent Assembly elections, which is set for December 3, holds great significance for the BJP. If Chouhan's confidence transforms into reality, it would mark a historic fifth term for the BJP in Madhya Pradesh, reinforcing the party's strong foothold in the state's political landscape.
