In a significant development, the Biafra Republic Government in Exile (BRGIE), under the leadership of Prime Minister Simon Ekpa, has outlined plans for the formal restoration of the independence of the State of Biafra. Ekpa, also a Finland-based attorney, revealed that the Biafra Declaration convention is slated to occur in Finland in either October or November 2024.
The announcement came in the wake of BRGIE's first cabinet meeting of 2024, during which a committee dedicated to the Convention was formed. The convention, according to Ekpa, not only marks a significant moment in the history of Biafra but also signifies a crucial step towards achieving the long-sought independence of the state.
Call for Preparation
Ekpa, echoing the significance of the event, urged all parties interested in the restoration of Biafra's independence to gear up for the upcoming Convention. He further revealed that the processes for registration and accreditation for the event would be initiated soon, thereby providing an avenue for interested individuals and groups to formally partake in the historic event.
Past Endeavors and Future Plans
Over the past years, the BRGIE has been actively involved in the recruitment for Biafra Liberation. In the previous October, they orchestrated a three-day extraordinary conference in Finland, during which crucial discussions surrounding the Biafra referendum were held among the Igbo diaspora worldwide. As the second convention approaches, BRGIE continues to champion the cause of Biafra, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to the restoration of Biafra's independence.
