Market Analysts Attribute Fluctuations to Sector Rotation

Market analysts such as Mukti Aryal interpret these fluctuations as a consequence of sector rotation - a process where investors reposition their funds based on sector performance outlooks. This trend is typical in equities trading and necessitates flexibility from investors. Tara Prasad Phuyal, Chairman of the Securities Board of Nepal, echoed Aryal's sentiments, highlighting that sectoral indices' fluctuation is a standard market behaviour and investors should not be unduly concerned. He added that markets naturally bounce back after hitting a minimum level, provided they are buoyed by suitable policies.

The Role of Financial Literacy and Institutions in Market Growth

The Nepalese capital market has seen increased public engagement, with nearly six million demat accounts. Mutual funds have provided a platform for individuals with low-risk appetites to participate in the equity market. However, financial literacy needs enhancement in poorer performing provinces. Microfinance companies and commercial banks play a crucial role in meeting the financial needs of individuals and small businesses. The recent monetary policy review by Nepal Rastra Bank ignited discussions among investors, underscoring the importance of careful consideration of market conditions, thorough research and analysis when investing in the stock market.
