Nigerian Army Dislodges IPOB Members, Kill Three

Fierce Encounter Results in Neutralization of Militant Operatives
In a significant effort by the joint team of the Nigerian army division and the Nigeria police, a determined crackdown was issued on the militant activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN). During the early hours of Monday, September 18, 2023, the forces apprehended three combatants in the region of Igboro Forest, situated between Arochukwu and Ohafia local government areas of Abia state.
Militant Hideouts Uncovered
The victorious forces sprang into action swiftly, revealing and obliterating several nascent camps utilized by IPOB and ESN members as bases for their underworld activities. Prolonged surveillance spanning several weeks divulged that these locations were being used not just as training grounds, but also as anchorages from where they planned assaults on civilians, security personnel, and government properties within the state.
Recovery of Weapons and Ammunition
Dismantling these camps revealed a bounty of weapons and ammunition among varying other items. Amassed materials ranged from different variations of the Multi Barrel Rocket Launcher (MBRL) Gun, an AK 47 Rifle, a Dane Gun, locally crafted Rocket Launchers, Improvised Explosive Devices, Fragmental Jackets, a Baofeng Radio, along with military camouflage uniforms and a host of different amulets.

Second Operation
In a parallel incident on the same day, similar forces in synergy with the national police, acting on reliable intelligence, exposed another hideout of IPOB and ESN militants at Ezioha Mgbowo in Awgu local government area of Enugu state. The extremists, taken by surprise, were caught in the middle of formulating plans to enforce an illegal sit-at-home order in the vicinity. Opening fire upon sighting the imminent military forces, they were rapidly overpowered.
Victory against Militants
The resolute forces retaliated with superior firepower, neutralizing three fighters while the remaining ones scattered in chaos. Equipment recovered from the scene included three pump-action guns and ten machetes abandoned by the fleeing extremists.
