Smuggling Drugs in Fat Burner Bottles

Detailing his surreal experiences, Sorrentino shared that he used to smuggle drugs across borders concealed in bottles of fat burner. Despite being constantly under surveillance by cameras and microphones, he managed to consume these substances unnoticed. He compared his secretive drug use during filming to being in a Mission Impossible movie, constantly dodging detection.

Sorrentino also shared instances of close encounters with cast members, particularly Jenni 'JWoww' Farley. These precarious situations added to the tension of concealing his addiction. His struggle with substance abuse was not limited to his time on 'Jersey Shore' but extended to his stint on 'Dancing With The Stars' in 2010, where he admitted to being high throughout the show.

MTV’s Ultimatum and Road to Recovery

As his addiction escalated, MTV presented Sorrentino with an ultimatum concerning his behaviour, which served as a turning point towards his eventual sobriety. His journey to recovery began in earnest after this intervention, and he has been sober since 2015. Sorrentino's candid revelations were even surprising to his wife, Lauren, considering the extent of his substance abuse during those years.

The memoir, co-authored with Andy Symonds, spans 296 pages and includes detailed accounts of Sorrentino's efforts to hide his drug use during his time on 'Jersey Shore' and 'Dancing With The Stars'. 'Reality Check: Making the Best of The Situation', set to release on December 19, offers an intimate glimpse into the life of a reality TV star grappling with addiction while in the public eye. It serves as a testament to Sorrentino's strength and resilience, inspiring others to face their own situations head-on.
