Strategic Partnership and Housing Development

Austin and Michelle Gillard of Rural Development Group, LLC, are partnering with the city to bring this project to fruition. Seven of the nine homes will be located in the Savener Addition, off US-24, offering families affordable, quality housing solutions. Each home will feature three bedrooms, two baths, a two-car garage, and a concrete reinforced storm shelter across 1,378 square feet of living space. Interested parties can view the home designs and available lots at the Rural Development Group's website.

This initiative not only addresses the critical need for affordable housing in Clay Center but also serves as a model for other communities facing similar challenges. The homes are designed to cater to the needs of families seeking quality living spaces without breaking the bank. Beyond providing shelter, this project is seen as a stepping stone towards building a more inclusive community where moderate-income families have access to comfortable and safe housing options.

Implications for Clay Center's Future

The MIH Grant and the ensuing housing development project signify a forward leap in Clay Center's journey towards becoming a more diverse and inclusive community. By addressing the affordable housing gap, the city sets a precedent for future initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of life for its residents. Moreover, this project could potentially attract more families to the area, contributing to the city's growth and vibrancy. As construction progresses, the community eagerly anticipates the positive impact these homes will have on Clay Center's socio-economic landscape.
