On a seemingly ordinary Wednesday, just before midday, a routine day turned into a tense pursuit and tragic confrontation in the heart of the capital city. A 35-year-old man suspected of a brutal shooting was pronounced dead following a high-speed police chase that began at the Sagrada Familia and ended at Barrio Cuba.
The incident took a violent turn around 11:30 a.m. when the police received a report of a man injured with at least five gunshot wounds at a location known as Callejón de la Puñalada. This report set in motion a series of events that saw public force units rapidly respond to the scene.
A Desperate Escape
The alleged attacker, in his desperate bid to evade capture, crossed paths with a nearby patrol unit and took a drastic step. He jumped from a bridge, continuing his escape along the riverbed leading to Barrio Cuba. But the long arm of the law was not far behind.
The pursuing officers, relentless in their chase, eventually apprehended the suspect. Although he managed to stay conscious for a few minutes after being detained, he later collapsed. Despite efforts to save him, he died before medical responders could arrive.
