The Survivor's Tale

According to the son of the injured worker, his father heard a loud bang that resembled an explosion. Before he could react, a massive landslide was upon him, leaving him no time for escape. Despite the severity of his injuries, including multiple rib fractures and the loss of his arm, the worker managed to extricate himself and call for help. The exact cause of the arm severance remains unknown. The victim is mentally stable and has come to terms with the loss of his arm.

Police investigations into the accident are currently underway. A video showcasing the extent of the landslide has been shared by the environmental organization 'Udruga Ekologija grada' on Facebook. The organization has levelled serious accusations against the landfill operators and city officials for their negligence. Accusations that include continued waste deposition at the site without proper safeguards after the first landslide, and delay in the construction of a new landfill for over two and a half years. This has left the capital city of Croatia without a functioning waste disposal system.

Concerns and Reassurances

Locals in Zagreb have raised concerns about a foul odor pervading parts of the city. Health authorities, however, have assured there is no threat to public health. They attribute the smell to low concentrations of chemical compounds. Despite the assurances, the event has left the residents of Zagreb in a state of unease, with the safety and efficacy of their waste disposal system in question.
